Graham Braddock – How to Draw Cartoons and Animation

Cartoons and Animation Part 1

How to Draw Cartoon Faces

Drawing faces and figures comes very naturally to almost all children (in many cases, prior to their learning writing skills).

They can also discover the fun of acting and creating faces that express character and emotion.

This helps children to think and draw creatively and confidently – a valuable skill that can then transfer into other subject areas.

Cartoons & Animation Part 2

How to Draw Cartoon Figures

Children are introduced to inventing cartoon characters. They also gain some understanding of how to put life and movement (animation) into the characters that they create.

Learning the art of visual story telling can add interest and a wonderful extra dimension to children’s written work.

Presented by well known professional artist –

Graham Braddock

Graham’s Workshops have inspired many thousands of NZ children with a simple, step by step approach to drawing. Your child will learn valuable practical skills, gain increased confidence and will create drawings to be proud of.

ANIMAL SCHOOL

This story is going around the internet at the moment. I don’t know who wrote it so cannot supply a link. As home educators we can give our children a very specialised educated – suited to each individual child in our family.

ANIMAL SCHOOL

An old story tells of the creation of a school for animals. In this school,
everybody took the same four courses: flying, swimming, climbing & running.

Among the students were a duck, flying squirrel, fox & an elephant. These 4
were highly motivated & wanted to get good grades so all tried very hard.

The duck did fantastically well in swimming & flying but lagged behind his
classmates in climbing & running so focused special attention on those 2
subjects. However, his feet became so sore from trying to run & his wings
were so bedraggled from trying to climb that, by the end of the year, he not
only failed both those subjects, but made Cs in swimming & flying, which had
once been his 2 best subjects.

At the beginning of the school year , the squirrel was first in his class in
climbing & running & was second only to the duck at flying. But, as the
months wore on, he missed so much school from catching pneumonia in his
swimming class that he failed everything. To make matters even worse,
because the squirrel constantly squirmed & chattered in class & had
difficulty paying attention, he was diagnosed with a learning disorder. The
squirrel was eventually placed in remedial classes & had to be medicated in
order to continue with his school work.

The fox was a natural in his running class & scored well in climbing &
swimming but, becoming so frustrated at his inability to get good grades in
flying, he began assaulting his classmates. He even tried to eat the duck!
His behaviour was so disruptive he was expelled from school, fell in with a
rough crowd & wound up in a centre for animal delinquents.

The elephant, meanwhile, developed low self-esteem because he couldn’t do
well in any of the subjects. When he sank into clinical depression, his
therapist persuaded him to try a different school that focused on subjects
such as lifting & carrying. The elephant was disappointed because careers
in lifting & carrying were not as prestigious as careers in flying,
swimming, climbing & running. Even though he always felt inferior, he
managed to make a decent living & support his family.

Entrusted With Arrows: Entrepreneurial Homeschool Fathers

Entrusted With Arrows highlights the efforts of a few Christian men who take extreme measures to directly train up their children in the way they should go. They do this by not only educating them at home, but by developing businesses which allow them to be with their children on a regular basis, living side by side with them, following the commands of Deuteronomy 6.

Health Select Committee’s Inquiry into “How to improve [increase] immunisation [vaccination] completion rates” in New Zealand

I have just received this email from Katherine Smith, the editor of The New Zealand Journal of Natural Medicine.

Please read and ACT on this information.

Dear Home Schooling Families,

On March 24, 2011, the Report of the Health Select Committee’s Inquiry into “How to improve [increase] immunisation [vaccination] completion  rates” in New Zealand which was published on the parliamentary website. The government has six weeks (from March 24) to respond to the report.

The full report is posted at this link:
http://www.parliament.nz/NR/rdonlyres/BADCF722-D377-4451-8602-1E00938BFC74/188894/DBSCH_SCR_5060_Inquiryintohowtoimprovecompletionra.pdf

The Health Select Committee (under the leadership of Dr Paul Hutchison) has produced a report that recommends raising the targeted vaccination completion rate to 95% for NZ children aged 0-4.  It also proposes a target be set for 11 year olds.

The report also recommends that the government make children’s enrollment at school and early childhood centres  dependent on parents producing proof of their children’s vaccination status and – even more ominously – suggests that government consider linking “existing parental benefits” to vaccination.

If the government accepts the recommendations in the report, it appears that parents will be forced to choose whether their child has no vaccinations – or all vaccinations on the schedule in order to enroll in a school or early childhood education centre.  Eligibility for the 20 Hours Free Early Childhood Education may also be restricted to children who have had all recommended vaccinations (or whose parents have decided against vaccination) according to Page 33 of the Report.  Moreover, it is also possible that parents who do not comply with this “all or nothing” approach to vaccination (for example those who want their children to have some vaccines, but not others) may face financial penalties.

The report represents a significant attack on parents’ rights to make health care decisions for their children.

Even if you never plan to send your children to school, please take your time to read the website below and become informed about this issue.  In Australia, some students studying at tertiary level now face discrimination on the basis of their vaccination status. If we do not all act now to send a strong message to the NZ government that the right to education should not be linked to vaccination, the career prospects of many people could be damaged.  Christians (and others) who decide against MMR vaccination because of the use of cells derived from aborted foetal tissue in its production (or for any other reason) could be particularly badly affected if the government adopts these sort of discriminatory policies.

We are in an election year; if you disagree with the recommendations in the report,  please act now to let all political parties know that you find this unacceptable.

Please forward this message widely and visit the website www.noforcedvaccines.org as soon as you can for more information and for ideas on how you can help with the campaign to resist the erosion of human rights threatened by this Report.   Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Katherine Smith
