Warm greetings.We are hosting a mini HEART retreat in Wairoa on Saturday, 12th October. I was wondering if you might be able to post this information on the hef website so that more might be informed and know that they are more than welcome to come and join us. The cost for the day is $20 and we are asking everyone to bring a plate for a pot luck lunch to share. Morning and afternoon tea are provided.

The Exemption Process – The Ministry’s Perspective a forum presented by the Ministry of Education in association with Auckland Home Educators Inc

Cost: AHE Members – free / Non-AHE Members – $3 per person (please bring correct cash)

To legally home educate in NZ, a parent/guardian must obtain a “Certificate of Exemption from Enrolment at a Registered School” for each child.

This Forum aims to clarify the process involved.
Be guided through the application document by the staff who handle them.
Gain knowledge to write yours with confidence or help others to prepare theirs.
Primary, secondary and special needs considerations will be covered along with various approaches right through from ACE to unschooling.

Although staff are unable to go through your individual draft, this is certainly an opportunity to ask questions.

Remember! Local Ministry staff are not responsible for the Government’s imposition of this legal requirement so this is not an appropriate time to question that issue.

Entry is strictly by pre-registration only and places are limited by room capacity.
Registrations close at midnight Thursday 19 September.
Please register only if you can commit to being there. Government building security means an attendance list must be supplied in advance. Avoid the embarrassment and disappointment of being denied entry if you are not on that list! Building doors will be unmanned after 7.10 pm so entry will be unavailable after that – no exceptions!

Please see the info on the Dream home. The Giles family are Homeschoolers and could get a free home if folk vote for them.  you do not have to txt but can go on line to vote.  I have only seen the program once out of interest and they are really working hard so please if you feel you can encourage folk to vote for them it does not matter if you have seen it or not. Thanks D…..

We love the Giles Family and what they stand for as people, parents and home educators and we would love everyone to rally behind them and bring their dream to reality tomorrow night.

We know the other team are going into schools to rally students, parents and teachers to vote so contacting as many homeschoolers as possible to vote would be wonderful.
