What is happening for Domenic Johansson and His Parents!

before_and_after

I spoke to Ruby Harrold-Claesson a couple of  nights ago and asked her if she had been removed from the Johanssons’ case. She replied that she is still on the transfer of custody/guardianship case, which the Johanssons’ won in June, but the social council has appealed. (Ruby should be able to represent the Johansson’s in this appeal if it goes ahead.)
Ruby then went on to explain the situation that the Johanssons are caught up in two sets of cases in the two separate court systems in Sweden. There are the civil and criminal courts and the administrative courts. It was the administrative courts that removed Ruby from the Johanssons’ case in 2010, claiming that she was unsuitable, but the civil and criminal court (Gotland District court) appointed her as the Johanssons’ legal counsel in the guardianship case.
After winning the case in the District court in June, the Johanssons applied to the administrative court to have their son Domenic returned to them. The administrative court has refused to appoint Ruby as their public counsel for the case, so they have appealed and they are awaiting the decision from the administrative court of appeal.
By the way, Ruby won a case against Sweden in the European Court of Human Rights on April 5, 2012. Read about it here http://hudoc.echr.coe.int/sites/eng/pages/search.aspx#{%22dmdocnumber%22:[%22905687%22],%22itemid%22:[%22001-110246%22]}. Congratulations Ruby.

Please keep praying for this family and writing words of encouragement to them and on their behalf.

Why is the Swedish State So Cruel and Heartless?

What makes a government and the culture of a nation become cruel and heartless? An answer is to be found in the very nature of the authoritarian socialist systems so much in vogue today.

Why is the Swedish State So Cruel and Heartless?

Those of us who have been closely following the Domenic Johansson state-kidnapping case and the devastating effect the callousnessness of the Swedish State has had on this destroyed family, and have not been brainwashed by all the lies and propaganda emanating from the Swedish Government and its agencies, have been left stupified and with the burning question, Why? Was this a terrible one-off series of accidents and misjudgments or was this a part of a greater, unseen, and unreported systematic holocaust against anything and anyone who does not conform to the Swedish Utopia that has only come to the public forefont because of foreign sympathisers and a small Swedish homeschooling community who saw what it could possibly mean for them if they didn’t do something about it?

What perverse philosophy makes the Swedish State so indifferent to the human suffering and misery that their agencies have caused? What is it that so numbs the sensitivities of these people toward the suffering of families that they themselves have been instrumental in destroying? Do they hate families? Do they hate love? Are they even qualified to be dealing with human beings at all, let alone having such absolute power over them? Are they brainwashed? Are they emotional retards? Do they have any conscience, any sense of guilt for what they have done? What exactly are they and what has happened to their humanity?

Not until I was forced to probe deep into the political philosophy of this country which seems to be embraced by all the mainstream political parties (just as the political parties of the former German Democratic Republic were forced to embrace a communist social framework) did I begin to find the answers. It has taken me some time but what I have dug up greatly alarms me because Sweden is pursuing a social illusion that can only end up hurting more and more ordinary citizens who have been persuaded to so implicitly trust their government to see them right in everything.

In fact it is truly astonishing just how much the Swedish people trust their government and how truly shocked they will be when they find out what is really going on behind the scenes. They have no idea that thay have been gradually hijacked by a wicked, undemocratic political system that was exposed in the 20th century as having been responsible for untold misery and the deaths of more people than in all the other centuries of world history combined. And it’s the same system which lies behind the European Union today to which Sweden belongs and has perhaps even helped shape.

As far as child-abduction and homeschooling are concerned, the main players in this battle are the National Government in Stockholm, local municipal government (the kommuns), Social Services (Socialtjänst) and the Psychiatric profession which is linked, of course, to Big Pharma. Politicians on the national level, who have no direct one-to-one connection with such tragedies as Domenic Johansson I can understand up to a certain degree. It is hard to connect to something that is relatively ‘far away’. However, this is not to excuse national politicians — they have ultimate responsibility for everything that goes on in this country so they must be held accountable for what their agencies do and to take appropriate disciplinary action when their agencies violate fundamental human rights as they absolutely and unquestionably have done in the Domenic Johansson case, the loopholes in Swedish Law notwithstanding.

I am seeking to ask some very subjective questions today about human nature and the state’s attitude to it. I want to know if the government actually cares about individual people and families or whether we are just abstract statistics to them. In public they say they do (as Gustaf Hoffstedt, who presided over the Domenic Johansson case, has done) but in practice we are left to seriously wonder if this isn’t just media hype. It is easy to ‘talk the talk’ but a lot harder to ‘walk the walk’. With the exception of a tiny handful of MPs in the Swedish Parliament, the vast majority have been silent for they probably know that to speak out will not only rock their own boats but risk capsizing them too.

I can, of course, understand how we, as human beings, can become desensitised to things especially if they are bad things that happen often or far away…

Persecuted & Exiled Swedish Homeschoolers “Walk to Freedom,” Vow to Fight On

Written by Alex Newman

STOCKHOLM – After walking some 120 miles over six days in the “Walk to Freedom” as a protest against Sweden’s controversial new ban on homeschooling, a passionate group of persecuted Swedish homeschoolers and their supporters boarded a ferry to Finland on July 19 in pursuit of educational liberty. The walk, which drew some three dozen participants overall, was aimed at attracting more attention to the unprecedented wave of Swedish political refugees created by the Nordic Kingdom’s draconian education regime.

Starting in the town of Akso, the “Walk to Freedom” began on July 13 following a week-long international homeschooling camp. From there, the activists — and fellow travelers who joined them along the way for shorter segments — marched across towns in Sweden. Along the way, they were chatting with people, handing out flyers with information on homeschooling, and drawing attention to the fact that so many families have been forced to flee the country.

“We’re doing it because the Swedish government created a law which is creating refugees — perfectly good, functioning families are having to leave the country just because they want to take the responsibility to educate their own children,” Jake Clay, one of the main organizers behind the walk, told The New American in an interview. “It’s an embarrassment to Sweden — it’s crazy, it’s shocking, it’s really sad as well. The government is forcing people out of the country.”

The controversy over homeschooling in Sweden erupted into an international scandal in 2010 when Parliament passed a law purporting to ban home education while forcing all “private” schools to teach the government curriculum. Of course, the estimated 50 to 100 families educating their children at home fought hard to stop it. But in the end, despite a global outcry, lawmakers went ahead with the scheme anyway — and Sweden became the first Western nation since National Socialist (Nazi) Germany to outlaw home education.

Swedish homeschoolers, however, refused to surrender. Since the law went into effect last year, dozens of homeschooling families have been forced into political exile. Many of the refugees moved a few hours away by boat to the self-governing, Swedish-speaking Aland Islands in the Baltic Sea. The territory is technically part of Finland, which guarantees the right of parents to direct the education of their children in its Constitution…Read more here…

A message from Michael Farris, Chairman, HSLDA about the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

This is happening in New Zealand

Article 7 of the UNCRPD gives government the ability to override every decision of a parent of disabled children if the government thinks that its views are in “the best interest of the child.”

It is much harder for parents with disabled children to get exemptions in New Zealand. The education act has singled out children needing special                 education.

...requirements of section 20 of this Education Act 1989,---
   (a) On the parent's application; and
   (b) If satisfied that the person---
           (i) Will be taught at least as regularly and
well as in a registered school; or
(ii) In the case of a person who would other-
wise be likely to need special education, will be taught
at least as regularly and well as in a special class or
clinic or by a special service.
The Government thinks they can give these children a better
education in "main stream" classes. Parents know that their
children are struggling in these classes so decide to home
school them. They are finding it much harder to get an exemption
for their special needs children than it is for their other
children.

If you are in the USA please follow the instruction below from
Michael Farris.

Senator Kerry: We’ll Pass the CRPD by July 26

Michael Farris is founder and chairman of HSLDA, and homeschooling father of 10. Read more >>

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

Senator John Kerry announced yesterday that he plans to pass the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities before July 26—just 13 days from today. He has scheduled a formal committee vote next Thursday—July 19. This is an unprecedented attempt to jam a binding international treaty through the Senate without proper time for debate or consideration.

Yesterday’s “hearing” was a carefully orchestrated attempt to get this treaty ratified without any serious consideration. There were nine total witnesses. Only two people opposed to the treaty were allowed to testify—Steven Groves from Heritage Foundation and me.

False Ideas

The administration seeks to promote two ideas that are simply inaccurate: 1. Disabled Americans who travel overseas will directly benefit by U.S. ratification of this treaty; 2. Ratifying a treaty does not require us to comply with international law.

They are arguing that a treaty is an empty promise with no actual substance. The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution makes it clear that the administration is wrong. Treaties form a part of the Supreme Law of the Land once ratified.

And no one even attempted a serious answer to our core parental rights concern.

Article 7 of the UNCRPD gives government the ability to override every decision of a parent of disabled children if the government thinks that its views are in “the best interest of the child.”

Parental Rights at Stake

This is a radical attempt to take away parental rights. Make no mistake—if they succeed at ratifying this treaty, the Convention on the Rights of the Child is next. This is not a battle just for parents with disabled and special needs children. This is a battle for every parent.

We absolutely must flood the U.S. Senate with phone calls. Senator Durbin mentioned that they were hearing from homeschoolers (and he was annoyed at us for voicing our opinion of his side’s planned assault on parental rights.) But, we need to do even more.

This is the most important issue that we will face this year. By July 26—up or down—we will either take another step toward becoming the subjects of a world government or we will preserve our rights as American citizens.

I urge you all in the strongest possible terms—call both of your U.S. senators today. If you have called them in their Washington, D.C. office—call them again in their in-state district offices which you can find online.

The Capitol Switchboard’s phone number is 202-224-3121, or use HSLDA’s Legislative Toolbox.

Get everyone you know to call their senators as well. Network. Facebook. Phone lists. Every place you can network—please do it.

And pray like mad.

Taking away our parental rights won’t build wheelchair ramps for disabled Americans who travel to other countries. The promise being made that this treaty will result in new accessibility options in foreign countries is an illusion.

The demise of our parental rights is a certainty.

Call. Call. Pray. And Call.

Michael P. Farris, J.D., LL.M.
Chairman, HSLDA

Homeschoolers stage march to exile

Families on 100-mile walk to highlight plight of parents under attack

SwedishMarch

Dozens of Swedish home educators from will walk 100 miles from the town of Asko to Stockholm then board a ferry to the nearby Aland Islands, a self-governing territory controlled by Finland, to highlight the plight of homeschool families under persecution in Sweden.

The plan was announced on a Facebook page.

A spokesman for a leading international advocate for education freedom and homeschooling said many families already have fled Sweden because of the crackdown on rights.

“Families should not have to choose between love for their children and love for their homeland,” said Michael Donnelly, director of international relations for the Home School Legal Defense Association.

“The situation in Sweden went from bad to worse after the new education law passed in June 2010, and dozens of families have fled in the past two years,” he said. “We call upon Swedish officials to recognize the right of parents to direct the education of their children, explicitly protected in fundamental human rights documents.”

The protest march will include a walk for six days, July 13-19, from Asko to Stockholm, before marchers will take a boat to the Aland Islands.
