Recently I wrote two letters to the National Office about two natural learning exemption applications that were not understood by the local offices (Lower Hutt and Auckland). As most of you know, now, there is a new lady processing exemptions in Auckland who is just learning about all of the different approaches. So we need to be a little understanding but at the same time we can use current exemption applications as a training tool for her.

Part of an email from Lucy (National MoE Office):

“Your points raised are very valid and I would like them to be addressed. At our next meeting with the regional homeschooling staff I am going to show staff a video of the different homeschooling philosophies and successes to help with the awareness and understanding of different philosophies when processing applications. If you know of any short videos that you think would be good, please do not hesitate to send me the links.”
