It is my absolute pleasure to announce that the Homeschool Petition was an outstanding success ? It is now closed with over 10,000 signatures!
Today is a victory for homeschooling families across New Zealand.
At the eleventh hour, the proposed amendments were stopped because ordinary families stood together, spoke with courage, and refused to stay silent about the rights and wellbeing of their children.
This outcome was not accidental — it was the result of countless hours of hard work from the homeschooling community, parents, supporters, and advocates who respectfully and passionately made their voices heard.
We are deeply grateful to the politicians and decision-makers who took the time to truly listen. In a healthy democracy, listening matters, and today showed that when families engage constructively and communities stand united, positive outcomes are possible.
This victory belongs to every parent who wrote submissions, attended meetings, emailed shared concerns, encouraged others, prayed, organised, and persevered even when the outcome seemed uncertain. It is a reminder that homeschooling families are committed, loving, and deeply invested in giving their children the best possible education and upbringing.
Today we celebrate not only the stopping of these amendments, but also the strength, unity, and dedication of the homeschooling community throughout New Zealand. Our voices mattered, and together we made a difference.
